By John Ubaldi, “Ubaldi Reports”

All over the country parents are demanding greater choice with regard to the education of their children, this after they witnessed firsthand the type of learning they were receiving and they didn’t like it.

The forced economic shutdown of the nation’s economy, and with it the closing of school’s across the country, this action had an enormous impact on the quality of education on American children.

Even a preliminary report published on the website of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health, and the Study of Business Enterprise showed that forced lockdowns had a debilitating impact on the nation’s children.

If this wasn’t bad enough, parents for the first time had the opportunity to learn how their children were being forced fed a woke progressive ideology, this despite the dramatic failing of the nation’s students with many who are unable to do math or reading at grade level.

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) a sector of the U.S. Department of Education which released a report in October of post coronavirus educational assessment showed that reading and math scores dropped to a 30 year low, but especially devastating for disadvantage students and children of color.

As appalling as this report was, it was equally disturbing that 84 percent of Black students lack proficiency in mathematics and 85 percent of Black students lack proficiency in reading skills.

When parents dared complain about the quality of education their children were receiving they were attacked and labeled as domestic terrorist, with the Department of Justice and the FBI formally involved in attacking parents.

The all-powerful national teachers unions were colluding with the Center for Disease Control preventing the re-opening of schools and working with the DOJ and the FBI in targeting parents who dare question what was being taught there children.

Parents faced off against school boards and teacher unions who for years vehemently objected to any involvement over curriculum or the implementation of social issues, and now you have states across the country on the verge of transformative change meaning the passage of school choice.

School choice has been soundly rejected by the national teachers unions and their surrogates in Washington and across the country; this includes the Democratic Party!

To keep the spigot of dollars flowing for the nation’s teachers unions the Democratic Party has focused like a laser beam on keeping funding for public education despite its dismal record and reject any notion of parental involvement or accountability.

In 2021, then Virginia Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe in response to a debate question stated, “I’m not going to let parents come into schools and actually take books out and make their own decisions,” adding, “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

McAuliffe even doubled down on this statement, “Listen, we have a board of ed working with the local school boards to determine the curriculum for our schools. You don’t want parents coming in in every different school jurisdiction saying, ‘This is what should be taught here’ and, ‘This is what should be taught here.’”

This philosophy was made in a comment last month by a Iowa school board member Rachel Wall, who said: “The purpose of a public ed is to not teach kids what the parents want. It is to teach them what society needs them to know. The client is not the parent, but the community.”

State Rep. Lee Snodgrass (D-Wis.) tweeted: “If parents want to ‘have a say’ in their child’s education, they should home school or pay for private school tuition out of their family budget.”

It’s interesting to note Democrats are adamant in their support for public education, then why do they opt out and send their children to private schools?

President’s Clinton and Obama sent their children to private schools, so has President Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom had his children enrolled in in-person learning at a prestigious private school all the while six million Californian children were forced to learn via zoom at home.

I guess it’s one standard for my children, and a different standard for yours, which means substandard education.

This is why many states are moving in the precise manner that Snodgrass tweeted, by passing legislation allowing parents to move their children to private schools—but with public money.

This has the potential to be a game changer as parents want a classical education for their children which focuses on core subjects, and definitely want parental notification of any gender transitioning or other major decisions that involve their kids.

Parents across the country were angered by teacher, unions, school boards and politicians who kept schools closed from which they manipulated science despite other countries keeping schools open with studies showing no risk to children.

During this time the U.S. experienced soaring mental health illness among the nation’s children and plunging test scores.

Again, parents who questioned any of these policies were quickly branded and treated as extremists, abetted by a complicit President of the United States in Joe Biden and his administration.

Even Constitutional Law Professor Jonathan Turley at George Washington University wrote that Michelle Leete, vice president of training at the Virginia PTA and vice president of communications for the Fairfax County PTA, said parents would not force them to reverse their agenda: “Let them die. Don’t let these uncomfortable people deter us from our bold march forward.”

More and more states are beginning to or have enacted school choice options, states like Arizona, Iowa, have them in place, others like Florida, Georgia and Virginia are strongly moving in that direction.

Parents are frustrated at the abysmal education scores, especially for minority students, and now we are seeing states across the country drop and call for lowering or suspending proficiency standards or declared meritocracy linked to “white supremacy, in its place is “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”  With this push all gifted and talented programs are to be eliminated in their push for “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.”

This trend by parents for more school choice propelled victory by Governors Kemp in Georgia, DeSantis in Florida and Youngkin to the governor’s mansion in their respective states.

Each gained a higher vote tally by minorities in their respective states, parents will be a crucial demographic in the 2024 presidential election, woe unto the candidate who fails to heed their cry!
