Since assuming the presidency Joe Biden has conveyed to the world with his actions America is a declining power, especially after the chaotic and humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan, but it’s his polices which have led to a loss of American deterrence.

Since the end of the Second World War American deterrence has kept the lid on many regional hotspots otherwise could have exploded into something greater and maintained the liberal world order which expanded economic freedom across the globe.

Right now Biden is continuing the failed policy of the Obama administration where our adversaries don’t “fear” the United States as the administration has continually appeased the enemies of the United States. This appeasement has led to greater instability not less.

When Biden entered the oval office he was automatically anointed as the most experienced president with regard to foreign policy that the U.S. has had in the past number of decades, because of his over forty years of service first as a senator then as vice president.

At the very beginning of his presidency Biden ushered in a lost American deterrence when his national security team was totally humiliated by allowing China’s national security delegation to totally dress down their American counterparts, all the while the U.S. national security representatives just sat in silent.

The world watched in utter horror as America was humiliated by slipping out in the middle of the night with its collective tail between its legs from Afghanistan. All during this massive debacle the vaunted U.S. military looked helpless and confused as thousands of our allies and fellow citizens were left behind.

Biden came into office with the sole mission of repudiating the foreign policy of former President Trump who he believed was reckless and would lead the nation to a major conflict.

Whatever you think of the former president, our adversaries never understood Trump as he was unpredictable, but when he acted he did so in a decisive manner such as killing over 250 Russian mercenaries who attacked U.S. military personnel in Syria.

Tehran was left reeling when Trump ordered the successful killing of Qasem Soleimani who led Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as commander of the Quds Force, an IRGC division primarily responsible for extraterritorial and clandestine military operations responsible for the deaths of thousands across the Middle East including hundreds of Americans. Trump espoused strength in the Middle East where Biden projects weakness.

Throughout the world Biden is seen as a weak leader, no matter of tough talk can change this perception, as his actions say otherwise.  Even his address to the nation on Thursday, Biden talked tough but to our adversaries he carries a weak stick!

Right now the United States in engaged in a proxy war with Russia in Ukraine, a potential conflict with China over Taiwan, and now a potential regional war in the Middle East after Hamas’s brutal attack on Israeli civilians in southern Israel.

With this horrific attack by Hamas on Israeli citizens has led to a massive attack by Israel into Gaza to destroy the terror network. This potentially may bring in the Lebanese terror organization Hezbollah who has stated they will attack the northern part of Israel.

Biden seems to have forgotten the military axiom of the Chinese General Sun Tzu, “The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” Biden and his advisors seem to have forgotten this.

As the crisis unfolds in the Middle East Biden still has not addressed the real enemy to peace in the Middle East and that is Iran.

Biden is following the foreign policy of President Obama, with many of his national security team having worked in that administration, who believed that they could work with Iran if we just outstretch our hands in peace.

When Obama was president he signed the Iran nuclear deal, lifted sanctions on Tehran, and allowed billions of dollars to flow to Iran with no preconditions that this money not be used for terrorist activity or to their proxy forces in the Middle East. Unfortunately, Iran used this additional sanction relief and the additional revenue to fund Hamas and Hezbollah.

Biden and his administration many who served in the Obama administration fundamentally believe that there can be rapprochement with Iran despite evidence to the contrary.

The real problem is like Obama our adversaries don’t fear America under President Biden. Now the president has sent two carrier strike groups, fighter aircraft, and a Marine Corps amphibious task force to the region. Tehran is continuing to test Biden and wondering if Biden would use them, if history is a guide they firmly believe he will not.

Biden like Obama has lost American deterrence and any failure to respond to Iran’s provocations would signal to the world that America cannot even protect or defend itself. Biden failed to stop Putin from invading Ukraine, and any defeat would signal to China that America the leader of the free will is just a paper tiger.

Biden needs to realize because of his appeasement of our adversaries and the lack of American deterrence he needs to heed the words of Winston Churchill where he stated, “Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on that strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The Statesman who yields to war fever must realise that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events….”

History is ripe with leaders who appeared weak have only invited aggression not peace, Biden needs to heed the advice of President Washington stated before an address before a joint Session of Congress “The surest way to preserve peace is to prepare for war.” Biden has forgotten this, and his failure will be America’s failure!
