One of the most frequently asked question often posed by journalists and members of both political parties is why does the American people support former President Donald Trump?
The first part is that around 10-20% will support Trump no matter what, the other 80% can’t stand him as he is a bellicose, narcissistic, bombastic individual who just can’t keep his mouth shut. Trump attacks people when he doesn’t have to, labeling opponents with vicious nicknames which makes him look unpresidential.
With all of this said, they remember when their lives were better and they were able to take care of their families, instead they are faced with the constant struggle of affording the basic necessities they once took for granted.
Gas prices, groceries, utility bills, just about everything was lower when Trump was president especially inflation and interest rates.
President Joe Biden campaigned on the return to normalcy and that he was “Scranton Joe” protector of the working class, upon assuming the presidency the American people got something entirely different.
Instead of governing from the center he pivoted to the far left, instead of bringing the country together Biden demonized and attacked his opponents at every turn, instead of peace abroad conflicts are now ragging.
The elites of both political parties touted for decades on “free trade” agreements but this has only hollowed out U.S. manufacturing and sent those jobs to China, the pandemic highlighted this when all the items needed were manufactured overseas.
Over the years the parties have switched where the Democrats used to be associated with the working class of America and the Republicans were associated with college education, and corporate America; not any more.
Free trade has decimated the employment prospects of middle-class workers as vast amounts of U.S. manufacturing were outsourced overseas, mainly to China. This worked great for colleges and universities who get thousands of Chinese students who pay full tuition and the elites make a fortune off investments abroad all the while the middle-class suffer.
Henry Olsen, a political analyst and commentator, is a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center writes that Apple’s huge profit margins on its iPhone, which has reached as high as 60%, is possible only because the units are assembled overseas using cheap labor in places like China or Vietnam.
But the new global economy has not worked out as well for the Americans who used to build the things Americans buy. One study found that competition from China alone cost Americans nearly 2.4 million jobs.
Everything President Joe Biden touts as his signature accomplishments has made life tougher for ordinary Americans, beginning with the American Rescue Plan which he signed early in his presidency. This singular act helped ignite inflation which had been dormant for forty years.
The Inflation Reduction Act did nothing to reduce inflation, even the president himself admitted this had nothing to do with reducing inflation. This bill had everything to do with Democrats and the administration pushing its “green agenda,” which only makes ordinary Americans pay more for basic utilities which have skyrocketed the past four years.
Examine the CHIPS and Science Act which was supposed to increase domestic research and manufacturing in the United States by giving Intel Corporation $8.5 billion now the company is reducing its work force by 15% or 15,000 employees’.
Where is the relief for small businesses who are saddled with higher labor costs, higher utilities, higher cost on just about all supplies needed to manufacture or produce their products.
The elites champion open borders as close to 10 million illegal immigrants are allowed to enter and then receive generous benefits that taxpayers are forced to pay for, but they receive nothing from their own government
The only benefit of illegal migration is the Democrats believe eventually they will receive amnesty and eventually a pathway to citizenship, this was articulated by Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Olsen also mentions that climate change policies, like the ones Harris wants, enhance elite status without harming them economically — but working-class voters can’t afford the increased costs of purchasing electric vehicles and switching their homes to renewable energy, and they work in occupations likelier to be reduced or eliminated by the transition away from fossil fuels.
These trends are not unique to America: Look at any developed country and you see the same thing.
Just examine America’s once famous educational center’s in its colleges and universities where these institutions are now the breeding ground for woke ideological indoctrination of America’s young people. Far too many are devoid of any alternative view point and have a far-left orientated curriculum pushed by the faculty, if one does hold an opposing view point they are shunned, ridiculed and face possible dismal for pushing what the elites consider disinformation, hate or misogynist rhetoric.
Democrats and the Biden administration have been pushing billions in student loan forgiveness, despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling it was unconstitutional. The elite push student loan bailouts that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy at the expense of working- class Americans.
Just imagine you didn’t go to college, you are essentially paying off the student loans of those who did and who will eventually make more then you will.
Basically, if you paid off your loan, your family sacrificed everything to send you to college or you served in the military, or didn’t go to college you are paying off their loans.
Then just examine how prevalent crime is, the lawless are allowed to go unpunished while the victim suffer.
The elite are pushing LGBTQ+ down the throats of the America people, where you can use any bathroom that fits your gender identity, play on any sport corresponding with your gender identification. You now have teachers and school districts can keep information from parents about their child all in the name of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
This is going on all over the country, despite more than half of the nation’s student in k-12 can’t read to grade level, and 80% of black and Hispanic children are not proficient at grade level in math and reading.
For the middleclass all they see is the elites getting wealthier at their expense, elected officials go to Washington as serve their entire life in public service to only enrich themselves and their families then come out richer then they went in.
Finally, the elites of both parties sent the nations youth off to foreign wars then abandoned them when the situation became too difficult.
This is only a small sampling on why America supports Donald Trump.
